This article is a creative commentary and practical response to the film Everything but the World (DIS 2021). Stills and quotes from the film provide the basis for a consideration and development of its central motifs and issues – an open process in which the authors spin a wide web of associations and playfully test the limits of digital formats. This confrontation ultimately takes a form that fits with our everyday habits of media consumption: a provocative social media feed, conceived as an ode to the public of the internet. This brings to light simultaneities, continuities, and breaks in a series of micro-formats whose combined (and malicious) algorithmic effect is usually to suck users in.
