Emancipatory Narratives: On Vessels and Spaces of Play
Tags: emancipation, imagination, Rahmen, Repräsentation
Abstract:
In my article, I engage with the question “What imaginative powers can be unfolded using artistic and theoretical framing, and to what extent can they function as vessels for emancipatory narratives?” My definition of ‘imaginative powers’ should be understood from a perspective of representation, aimed at creating an opportunity for diverse and underrepresented groups to represent themselves (a moment of self-imagining). This enquiry provides the basis for an investigation conducted on the borders of binary-patriarchal and colonial taxonomies – in literary, artistic, activistic, and philosophical approaches that offer traces and fragments of spaces of restitution and transformation. The readers decide in what form they want to expand and collectively design the set of cards, such as through performative actions, photo series, drawings, readings, and so on.
