Doing Is Recognizing and Recognizing Is Doing. The Inseparable Interrelation between Theory and Practice

About the development of research and theory in the field of art-, gallery-, and cultural education at the University of Applied Arts Vienna

The education of art teachers at the University of Applied Arts Vienna has the aspiration for its students to develop reflexive, artistic, and critical skills, which inevitably change and interleave practices and structures of teaching, learning, and research. To these practices, as the author points out, also belong external funding projects as well as self-organized research initiatives within the university context, that often exceed the scopes of discipline(s) and institution(s).
