The cinematic work EVERYTHING BUT THE WORLD by the DIS collective imagines scenarios of existence beyond the usual strategies of linear historiography and knowledge production. The themes are stories, narrative styles, individualized and collectivized perspectives that (co-)produce culture via various digital screens, changing forms and formats, from documentaries to YouTube tutorials to TV shows, from widescreen to vertical smartphone formats. The work was created for the MOVING IMAGES BIENNALE 2021 in Geneva and was spatially restaged in the exhibition space and Kunstverein Schinkel Pavillon in Berlin at the beginning of 2023, as well as transformed into a catalog by the exhibition space Wiener Secession (2022).
