Review: Beyond Molotovs
Abstract:
Beyond Molotovs: A Visual Handbook of Anti-Authoritarian Strategies is a new publication that brings together different perspectives aimed at achieving societal change on the basis of an anti-authoritarian understanding of democracy. It features 50 contributions by collectives, organizations, associations, academics, and artists from across the globe, detailing their work against an increasingly authoritarian world whose dimensions are not merely political but also emotional and aesthetic. By discussing selected contributions to the book, the review offers an insight into the working methods of the artists and designers involved, posing the question of how and to what extent the concept of counter-strategies can be applied within artistic and cultural education.
