Raphael Di Canio teaches art and German at the Kaiserin-Theophanu Schule in Cologne and works as a moderator in further training for art teachers. He is as an associate lecturer for performance art at the University of Cologne’s Institute for Art and Art Theory, where he tries to combine practice, theory, and didactics in his teaching. He has a voluntary curator role at the Performance Garten festival and is a member of the Makkaroni Akademie, which works to preserve the legacy of the Gastarbeiter generation of immigrant workers. His own practice as an artist operates at the interface of performance, sound, film, and text.
